Groups
We recommend that cacher’s join a local or regional caching group. While Groundspeak offers a discussion forum, we’ve found that the local groups are usually more friendly.
We are members of the following groups (forums) and have attended their events as well as found caches in their regions.
Central Ohio Geocachers (COG) – host a Cache & Coffee event on the 2nd Thursday of each month at a Panera Bread [near Maxton Rd] in Westerville, Ohio. On the last Saturday of the month, the Cache & Coffee – Dublin event is held at a Panera Bread in Dublin, Ohio. These are opportunities to meet other local cacher’s. If you need help, bring your GPSr and/or questions. We usually have 15 or more in attendance.
Geochums – is a very active online geocaching community in Northeast Ohio. Though an Ohio group, they draw members from several states. Our local approver, Keystone, is an active participant on this forum.
Northwest Ohio Geocachers – a community of cachers from Northwest Ohio. Besides participating on their forum, we have attended their events and cached in their area.
Central Ontario Geocachers (COG) – a “geocaching resource for Central Ontario” [Canada]. We’ve met some of their members at geocaching events in Canada and the US. They host an annual picnic (COG Spring Fling). We’ve been to the past 2 yearly events and plan to attend again next year.
