2trux took his sack lunch with him and walked up to the convention center to attend the Converge on Columbus II event today. zuckermn (from Berzerkeley, CA) is attending the Origins Game Fair and is hosting the event again this year.
2trux & candlelady attended S2009CNDBDSK in Genoa Township, Ohio today.
For the second year in a row, 2trux & candlelady attended today’s COG Spring Fling, near Barrie, Ontario. This is the first mega event held in Ontario.

After doing some research online regarding the problems I’d encountered while driving with our Garmin 60CSx, I discovered that others had run into the same problem when it tries to recalculate the route. The concensus was that the problem started when users had upgraded to version 3.90 of the software.
While working on our “caching” laptop recently, we noticed that the GPSr had v3.60 on it, so we updated it to v3.90. While there’s no mention of the problem on Garmin’s website, I found a link to version 3.70, downloaded it, and downgraded the software in the GPS. After updating (downgrading) the software, all the settings, counters, etc. were reset back to the defaults.
We’ll see how the GPSr performs when we go up to Canada in a few weeks.
2trux & candlelady decided to get off the Interstate, so we could visit the Bass Pro Shop. Our friend, jtee, is looking for camo tape and we bought some at another Bass Pro. After exiting the freeway, the Garmin 60CSx decided to act up again. Screen would fade out, then turn itself off. 2trux was getting perturbed – we weren’t quite sure where we were going and the GPSr kept turning itself off. Finally got to Bass Pro and got what we needed.
After navigating back to I-65, the GPS started to behave itself again. At this point, we’re thinking we might need a new GPSr.
2trux & candlelady checked out of the hotel today and decided to visit some nearby caches, before starting the trek home.
Had a wonderful time, no matter what cache we visited, we ran into other cachers. Spent time chatting on the trails as well as at the parking area. After doing the Fields of Fire virtual and the nearby Behind Fortress Rosecrans traditional cache, we teamed up with 2 other cars to do some caches we hadn’t visited yet. Our group included MathSeeker and Team TALL (Trevor and Kate, Antiqueman and Lookout Lisa).
candlelady and 2trux enjoy group caching.
Since 2trux & candlelady were staying in a hotel just across the street (Old Fort Parkway), we decided to attend tonight’s Midnight Geocoin Madness Event. Arrived around 11pm. Fortunately we found a legal parking space in the hotel lot.
Signed the event log, spent about 15 minutes at the event (it was packed) and then headed back to our hotel.
Decided to beat the rush leaving GW7, so we headed out early and cached our way towards GW7 and a FlashMob and some SOS Y’all!
Got there early enough to find parking along the side of the road. Chatted with friends and then lined up for the video “logbook”. This is the largest flash mob event we’ve been to. My guess, is that it should have achieved mega status.
2trux & candlelady attended GeoWoodstock VII in Bell Buckle, TN today. This is our second GeoWoodstock and we thoroughly enjoyed this one. Location, weather, and setup was perfect. Spent time talking with friends from several midwestern States and Canada.
Friends from Ontario told us about the Flash Mob event this evening, so we left before the closing ceremonies to head toward that event.
2trux & candlelady are in town for GeoWoodstock VII and attended the Friday Night Meet & Greet event this evening. After finding a place to park (just before the downpour), we headed over to the registration line. Got it done and then chatted with cachers we’ve met at other events over the past six years.
